Festival of Light 2008
The Spanish performance group Xarxa Teatre led us
around the streets of Huddersfield
telling a story from their culture.
The show is based on
the paintings of Belgian Artist, James
Ensor, who ridiculed and satirised the
corruption and seedier side of the ruling classes, which
prompted the Spanish Civil War. The show is more of a
representative spectacle, rather than a
literal story, puppets representing the
banks, the military, the politicians and
others in positions of power were being lampooned, before
being dealt their rather unsavoury fate at the end. |
