Growing Together

Since 2009 Kirklees Markets have been delivering a project to help shoppers at markets in Cleckheaton and Heckmondwike learn how to grow their own food. On the first Saturday of each month at the Cleckheaton Farmers Market and the first Tuesday of each month at Heckmondwike Market we give away free seedlings and advice for growing in your gardens and pots. Visit your local market in Heckmondwike or Cleckheaton each month and learn how to grow your own food.

Growing together will be at Heckmondwike Market on the first Tuesday
each month - 5 June, 3 July, 7 August and 4 September

Growing together will be at Cleckheaton Market on the first Saturday each month - 2 June, 7 July, 4 August and 1 September

‘Growing together’ is a project designed to help you start to grow your own food. It is aimed at complete beginners and no previous experience is needed.

Each month, at Heckmondwike Market or Cleckheaton Farmers Market we will have our ‘Growing together’ stall. The first time you visit, you will be asked to sign-up and make your pledge to joining our ‘Growing together’ community. With advice from our growers, you will decide what to grow and where. This may depend on the space you have available, the amount of time you have and your own preferences on which foods you like to eat.

Growing guides and project handouts will be available at the stall and also to download at www.kirkleesmarkets.co.uk

For updates click like at Facebook.com/KirkleesMarkets or follow on Twitter @KirkleesMarkets.

The project is fully funded by Kirklees Council, and there is no charge
